Nanotechnology -Smith-

Nanotechnology is the technique which creates and controls matters of the size between 1 and 100nm (nano miters), and deals with matters of a molecule unit. It has features as follows: skill close to the environment, prevention for occurring pollution, inelastic price elasticity , minimizing a loss of materials and energy. The word, Nano means small and is derived from ‘nanos’ which means “midget” in Ancient Greek. Nano means one a billionth meter and has one a hundred thousandth times thickness of a hair. So, 1 Nano meter is the level that we should see by only an electron microscope. Also, the ripple effects on economy and technique are enormous so much that there is not field which is not applied by nanotechnology. Nanotechnology has been developed variously. So, although there is no fixed classification, it is classified into 3 kinds of major fields and etc. So are as follows: compounding new minute matters by nano material, manufacturing the device to function a fixed ability through arranging or mixing nano matters, applying nanotechnology to biotechnology.
Beside these fields, we can use nanotechnology in a lot of aspects. Nano-biology motor can enter into capillaries in order to diagnose and cure diseases. In display field -TV, monitor and something like those- Televisions applied nanotechnology spend less electric energy, resist terrible weather conditions, has a better picture quality. As a matter itself, when minute particles are made, new features is found. If we use this point, we can improve various industry techniques or make complete new things. We expect that cosmetics, devices for heath, electronic devices will have developed until at least 10 years later. In case of a nano silver particle, it holds the propagation of the mold and bacillus. So, we use it for all things in a hospital. Because the field emission display, used a carbon nano tube show a TV screen without heating, energy consumption will be economized. Also, most laptops now are 1 to 3 kilograms in weight and its size is like a notebook. But in upcoming future, its size could be miniaturized up to as a watch. Furthermore, it operates several thousandth time faster than now, we do not need to recharge it with carrying a heavy charger due to it uses a solar battery. Through a projection that a hologram principle used, we use the virtual reality screen and we command by a voice instead of keyboard. When we go on a picnic or trip, we can handle everything which is happened at home or work by radio communication. We can even order a house keeper robot to feed our pet. Considering a flash memory is used as storage for cell phone, digital camera and USB driver, we can add gorgeous functions. One memory card can store above 10 DVD movies or 4000 mp3 files. The experts expect that if the flash memory can store such a vast capacity, it will bring us ‘mobile office’ age that when we go for a business trip, we can bring all things in the office by only one memory card.
In these manners, nanotechnology will bring us many change and chance. But I think we have to face moral problem again such as when other new skills came out. So what we have to do is to continue to develop nanotechnology solving moral problems.
